The atmosphere of the Christmas season is truly something special. Finding your way into a holiday decorated venue can completely turn your day around.
Kick out the Scrooge and embrace phenomenal food and fantastic festive surroundings.
Ann Sather
909 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657
(773) 348-2378
This venue is unique, not only for its Scandinavian style cuisine– but for its amazing Scandinavian cuisine. Their meatballs and cinnamon rolls are no brainers.
There are also multiple locations.
Walnut Room
111 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60602
(312) 781-3125
Macy’s 7th Floor
The Walnut Room is not only exquisite in presentation, but the taste is equally phenomenal. During the brisker winter days, nothing will warm your soul up better than their chicken pot pie.
Butch McGuires
20 West Division Street, Chicago, IL 60610
(312) 787-4318
This classic Irish pub would almost have you guessing that they love Christmas more than they love beer– but don’t get confused, nothing beats beer. Their fish and chips are always a standard procedure.
Tre Kronor
3258 West Foster Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625
(773) 267-9888
Tre Kronor excels in Scandinavian cuisine as well. As expected, their Swedish meatballs are top-notch, but if you feel like venturing beyond that– their Danish pastries and Belgium waffles will satisfy you like no other.
The Second Floor At Owen & Engine
2700 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
(773) 235-2930
Owen & Engine brings British cuisine to Chicago. Their across-the-pond inspired menu leaves you wanting nothing else. Their burgers are top notch, but if you are looking for more of a British take, Scotch eggs are always a go to. The malt vinegar aioli is a perfect complimenter for fries.
Miller’s Pub
134 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
(312) 263-4988
Miller’s Pub provides a comfortable, familiar setting that makes you want to rally up your friends. Their Greek salad is known to be one of the best in Chicagoland. However, their prime rib gives succulent an entirely new meaning. Aid the digestion process with a shot or two of Jeppson’s Malort to finish it off.
Marie’s Pizza & Liquors
4127 West Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, IL 60630
(773) 725-1812
It is almost like Marie’s Pizza & Liquors is meant for the Christmas holiday season– their red booths compliment all of the festive decorations perfectly. Live music can be heard to add to your pizza feast– which I recommend to special order with double-dough if you aren’t craving a complete thin-crust. Either way, Marie’s Pizza & Liquors will satisfy your pizza craving.
Toons Bar
3857 North Southport Avenue, Chicago, IL 60613
(773) 935-1919
Toons Bar may appear to be like many others, but their food and entertainment makes it rise above. The shuffleboard table is the perfect way to see who has to pay for the next round. Their wings are some of the best in the city– while their wraps and sandwiches are not very far behind.
Lady Gregory’s
5260 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60640
(773) 271-5050
Lady Gregory’s appears to be an Irish pub– but in the kitchen they are hiding culinary geniuses. Their lobster mac & cheese may be the fanciest mac & cheese that your mouth has ever experienced. Their roasted brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries are the perfect appetizers. Their deviled eggs and omelets are nothing to scoff at if you are hankering for some post-shell creations.
Palm Court At The Drake
140 East Walton Place, Chicago, IL 60611
(312) 787-2200
As soon as you enter The Drake, you are overwhelmed with Christmas decor as you find your way to Palm Court. Their excellent selection of teas aid to warm you to the bone. Their finger sandwiches and pastries accent the experience to complete your relaxing evening with the people close to you.
Edelweiss
7650 West Irving Park Road, Norridge, IL 60706
(708) 452-6040
Edelweiss may be a little trek from downtown, but this list would not be complete without them. This authentic German restaurant may go all out for Oktoberfest, but they essentially treat Christmas as round 2. Their merry atmosphere is sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit. Their traditional cuisine will assure that no one leaves unsatisfied. From the rueben to the spaetzle– everything is spot on Bavarian.
